Chapter 14

AUDREY

My body was numb. My thoughts were blank. I was frozen in place, leaning against the wall of my hotel bedroom.

I closed my eyes and there was nothing. I opened them, still nothing. I didn’t know what to think or feel. I didn’t even know if I was alive at this point.

I listened to the water running in the bathroom. It slowly grew louder and louder. It was the only thing keeping me sane at this point.

I stepped into the bathroom and looked through the glass door of the shower. The steam was thick but not enough to block the view. Micah pressed his palms against the tiles, letting the water run over his head and down the rest of his bronze, muscled body. The blood and dirt on him circled down the drain, leaving nothing but a display of ink anybody would’ve been hard-pressed to look away from.

My instincts took over. Maybe I was afraid. Maybe I was upset. Whatever it was, I stripped my clothes off until they were a messy pile on the ground around me. When I opened the shower door, Micah took a few moments before turning and looking at me.

I locked my eyes on his. A hard swallow of anticipation made me anxious.

“Are you all right—”

“I just wanna be with you. Right now. Just be with me, Micah.”

He took me into his arms and brought me underneath the water. All of the dirt. All of the tears. All of the stress and anxiety dripped down my body and disappeared with everything else.

I locked my lips with his, enjoying the taste of his wet kiss. I started to feel something again. His hard body against me, Micah stirred a desire within me that made feel like nothing else in the world mattered.

He was tall enough that I could feel his cock thickening against my stomach. The anticipation sent a shiver through my spine. My knees buckled but Micah wrapped me in his arms, holding me close. The kind of security I felt with him was enough to make me fly. I was floating, so safe and comfortable… Nothing could frighten me when I was with him.

I leaned back against the tiles. I was helpless, my hands clenched with nothing to brace myself on. When his tongue hit my clit, I nearly folded over.

I sighed a soft breath, my words lost in the water continuing to cascade over us.
